Reading
In reading this week we will be working with the letters Ll and Ii. We will be building words with the short vowel sound i. We continue to read new words and to use our phonetic skills to sound them out. Our new sight words for this week are go, is, and two. Please add these words to your sight word pack and practice daily.
Math
In math this week we will be working with numbers 11-15. We will practice writing the numbers and counting in groups of tens and ones. We will begin adding small sums to 5 using manipulatives to help us. Please keep practicing the counting to 100 by ones and tens.
100 Day Project
Next Thursday marks our 100th day of school. In honor of this special milestone; I would like each child to create a 100 Day collection. Your child will need to create a picture, build a model or bring in a collection using 100 things. Some examples are a picture made out of 100 cotton balls; or a necklace using 100 beads or pieces of macaroni. Because counting to 100 is an expected outcome this year; please help your child; but allow him/her to do the counting. Please send the project to school no later than Thursday, February 9th. They will be put on display in the hall.
PARP
Read, Read, Read for Duck to Dive!! The first PARP slip is due in school on Friday! Please help your child read for prizes and to help Duck get her diving board! The winning grade level will also win a swimming party! Each child will need to read 5 days a week for 20 minutes each day.
