Classroom News English 11A We will be practicing more Critical Lens essays for the rest of this quarter. I hope to be able to get some novels in between essays.
The English Regents exams will be held in mid June. Dates will be posted later. The English Regents will be a one day, three hour session with four parts. The first part will be the listening passage for information and understanding. There will be multiple-choice questions. The second part will be one literary passage and one informal passage. Each passage will have multiple-choice questions. Part three will have two literary passages linked by a common theme. Again, there will be multiple-choice questions and then a short written response. Part four will be the critical lens quotation. This essay will be about applying the quotation to literature read for school. I strongly suggest my students go to www.regents prep.org and practice on some of the old regents tests that are available there. Also at that site, there are many other good places to prepare for other types of regent tests. Specifically, students should read the study strategies link. A lot of good information is there and could help them find the study strategies which works best for them.
