There are many facets to curriculum and instruction but the overall goal is to improve instruction and raise student achievement. This is done by providing the teachers with the tools and training they need to implement effective programs in their classrooms. Aside from providing them with the individualized professional development, ongoing mentoring and coaching takes place in each building. The staff analyzes NYS assessment data, create data action plans, and then use the plans to modify instruction. Teachers have designed a curriculum map for each subject using Curriculum Mapper. The maps are aligned K-12 using the NYS core curriculum guide and NYS learning standards. Professional development at Randolph CSD is an ongoing process. It is accomplished through CABOCES , Erie 1 BOCES, Chautauqua Teachers Center, classroom visitations, professional journals, and mentoring and coaching within the district. It is geared towards district and individual needs. A major component of professional development is acquiring knowledge with technology integration . It is encouraged that students are exposed and utilize multi-media. Students acquire problem solving skills when they are given the opportunity to explore and manipulate various technology components.
