RCS Board of Education Candidates
Board of Education petitions for expiring terms of current Board members are available in the District Clerk's office. To be eligible to run for a seat on the Board an individual, 1) Must be a qualified voter of the District, 2) Must be a citizen of the United States, 3) Must be at least 18 years of age, 4) Must have been or will have been a resident of the district for a continuous and uninterrupted period of at least one year immediately before the election, 5) May not have been removed from any school district office within the preceding year, 6) May not reside with another member of the same school board as a member of the same family, 7) May not be a current employee of the school board, 8) May not simultaneously hold another incompatible public office, and 9) Must be able to read and write. To be on the ballot, eligible candidates must file a nominating petition, signed by at least 25 qualified voters. Signed petitions are to be filed in the office of the District Clerk no later than 5 p.m., 30 days prior to the vote.
Newly elected members are required to attend a New Board Member training session and a fiscal oversight training workshop, locations to be announced.
